At Swanbourne, pupils regularly meet in our our chapel; a beautiful space where children can quietly engage, reflect and worship if desired.

During chapel, we explore values and beliefs that are relevant to pupils, addressing key moral and ethical ideas as well as encouraging them to think about how this may impact the way they lead their lives. Many of our chapel services link with the faith calendar, making chapel themes relevant and engaging for pupils.

While many of our themes are delivered from a Christian perspective, reflecting the faith of the majority of our students, we teach pupils about different festivals and key messages from a variety of faiths and world views.

In chapel, we

  • build and nurture a sense of close community.
  • provide a quiet space for reflection on issues beyond the everyday perspective of school life.
  • provide a forum to promote and celebrate shared values.
  • allow for communal singing, which many pupils find fun and uplifting.

We also have a variety of services at St. Swithuns, our local church in Swanbourne. These offer an additional opportunity for pupils to worship, and brings the whole school community together at key times like Easter and at the end of the school year.
