The School Day

The school day at Swanbourne House follows a clear and structured routine to support pupils’ learning and wellbeing.

Pre-Reception

Breakfast Club begins at 7.30am, followed by registration at 8.15am and the start of lessons at 8.30am.

The morning session runs until 11.30am, when pupils break for lunch, with the afternoon session starting at 12.30pm. At 3.30pm, children can take part in Cabin Club or a variety of after-school activities. Snacks are available, and a hot tea is served at 5.30pm, with collection at 6.30pm.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

For our slightly older pupils, the day begins with Breakfast Club from 7.30am, Registration at 8.15am and lessons at 8.30am. Pupils enjoy a mid-morning break and snack at 10.15am, followed by more learning until lunchtime at 12.15pm.

Afternoon lessons begin at 1.15pm. Reception and Year 1 finish their school day at 3.15pm and can be collected from their classrooms, while Year 2 ends at 3.30pm.

After-school activities and Cabin Club provide a fun and relaxed space, with sandwiches and snacks available. A hot tea is served at 5.30pm, and the day concludes with collection by 6.30pm.

Years 3 to 8

The school day begins with Breakfast Club from 7.30am. From 8.00am, children can be dropped at the Pupil Entrance and supervised until registration at 8.15am, followed by chapel, assembly, or tutor time at 8.25am.

Lessons run throughout the day with scheduled breaks and staggered lunch times for different year groups. The afternoon includes lessons, matches, or sports sessions on set days, with a short “Little Tea” break at 3.15pm (except Wednesdays). The formal school day ends between 4.00pm and 4.30pm, with prep and activities continuing until 5.00pm, when hot tea is served.

Pupils are collected from designated areas, with final collection by 6.30pm across all ages.

Children remaining after this time are cared for by boarding staff. This may incur an additional charge.
